Resumen

Los trastornos psicóticos constituyen un grupo heterogéneo de enfermedades que tienen en común la presencia de síntomas caracterizados por la ruptura con la realidad. El más relevante de todos ellos, por su gravedad, es la esquizofrenia, que afecta al individuo y a su familia. Se considera una enfermedad del neurodesarrollo, con alteraciones desde la gestación, que evoluciona hacia la cronicidad y con frecuencia presenta recaídas a lo largo de la vida. En la última versión de la clasificación de la Asociación Americana de Psiquiátrica (DSM-5) todos los trastornos psicóticos están clasificados en el mismo capítulo
