Abstract
Society is changing faster than the adaptive potential of educational institutions (Gairín, 2010) and the capacity of professionals who work as teachers in university institutions to respond to the new demands imposed by this society. In the training of engineers, in the context of this research, it is still possible to find a traditional formation that manifests itself in the tradition of engineering in Chile with a nineteenth century education. Therefore, it is very common to see the same organization of classrooms with teaching strategies based on the master class with no resources other than slate and down. Faced with this reality, this research is born out of the need to leave behind the traditional nineteenth-century training of engineers in Chile and to enhance the scientific training of students. The object of study is the chair of Marketing III of the career ofCommercial Engineering imparted in the campus El Llano de la Universidad Autónoma de Chile a private entity that requires the development of an egress profile that can position itself in a market in the Universidad de Chile and the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa Maria, both belonging to the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities CRUCH, today given the quality of its graduates lead the way. Considering the scarce literature on this subject and the idea of trengthening the role of teachers in engineering as researchers, taking the idea of Stenhouse (1984) and Shön (1992) regarding the reflective teacher, we value the richness implied by the teacher's relationship with the students. Faced with this idea, it is necessary to clarify that the research is born motivated by the researcher's concern, in his role as lecturer, by noting the meaning that the latter give to their marketing training process, reducing it to a means of obtaining a degree Professional that it is necessary to approve regardless of the scientific contributions of these subjects in the development of their professional profile, the chair corresponded to the application of the scientific method in the investigation of markets. In an active role as a researcher, the teacher and author guides the study through an initial focus of observation which is broken down as it goes into it, allowing him to notice the problem and the fundamentals of an academic situation that affects The quality of the training of its students given that it is generated in a critical subject that contributes the central cognitive tools for the formation of this engineer.
