Abstract
The paper provides evidence regarding the case of Spain about the relationship between the evolution of voting intention to the government in office and economic situation, under the conventional assumption of responsibility hypothesis: voters decide to support the government in office if economic performances are good and, on the contrary, they withdraw their support if these economic results are not good. For these purposes, aggregated data from official sources are used to analyze the relationship between economic performance and political support to government, as the valuation that they perform about the President managing, always referred to Spain between 1978 and 2014.
