Abstract

In this paper we outline some ideas for the practice of inclusive mountaineering, focusing on the field of leisure as an area of shared experiences. To do so, we delimit the inclusive leisure concept in the context of disability, as an opportunity for contact between people of different capabilities and focusing on inclusion as a way of understanding human relationships; a philosophy and a value that is primarily focused on the interaction between a person and the environment. In this context we will examine some inclusive experiences of mountaineering and disability, initially proposing the potential of these activities, and finally project some key issues around inclusive mountaineering.
