Resumo
Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy and, although the death rate of thyroid cancer is relatively low, the recurrence rate of this disease is high. Therefore, there is a need to use combination therapies. On the other hand, autophagy is a cellular process through cell components are recycled through their incorporation into lysosomes. It has acquired importance in the study of cancer. Therefore, we studied the sensitivity of a cell line derived from an anaplastic thyroid tumor to conventional anticancer treatments in the presence and absence of inhibitors of autophagy. Our results indicate that the inhibition of autophagy enhances the effect of conventional chemotherapy.
