Abstract

Within the financial system, climate risk management has become one of the main levers to face a global challenge such as climate change. Within this field, banking is one of the major players in the measurement and management of the transition and physical risks arising from it, unconditionally incorporating the risk strategy as part of the global sustainability strategy of the entities. The aim of this article is to present the current situation and future challenges of climate risk management within the European banking system, putting into context the important milestone of the ECB’s climate stress exercise.
