Resumen

Las infecciones cutáneas se producen por invasión de microorganismos que alteran la piel y provocan una respuesta inmunitaria local que puede tener repercusiones sistémicas. Los principales agentes causales son bacterias, virus y hongos, las características epidemiológicas de cada uno definen su mecanismo de transmisión. Las manifestaciones clínicas son muy variadas, pero existen lesiones típicas que pueden ser definitivas para el diagnóstico. Las pruebas complementarias ayudan a confirmar el diagnóstico inicial. Su tratamiento se basa en la erradicación del microorganismo, siempre que sea posible, y evitar posibles complicaciones.
