Résumé
The main diagnostic features elaborated to infer hunting or scavenging strategies in past human communities from the archaeological record are discussed. Although it is assumed that in some instances primary access to carcasses can be distinguished from a secondary intervention, it is claimed that the current range of taphonomic analysis and referential frameworks are not enough to differentiate between both strategies when a primary access to resources has been determined.
