Resumen
Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is the third cause of cardiovascular death after acute myocardial infarction and ictus. In patients with suspected pulmonary embolism, the adherence to commonly accepted diagnostic guidelines improves the prognostic. The treatment as well as the place of treatment depends on initial severity. If no contraindications exist, anticoagulant therapy must be prescribed during at least 3 months. Undefined treatment must be taking into account in patients with risk of recurrence and bleeding as well the patient preferences.
