Abstract

Introduction: the retinoschisis is a splitting of the neurosensory retina in to two layers. There are three types of retinoschisis, degenerative peripheral retinoschisis starts at 20 years and is usually asymptomatic and rarely requires treatment. Case report: we present a male patient who is 28 years old, we find an inferior retinoschisis in both eyes near the macular area without affection of this area. The patient was stable and he did not need any intervention. Discussion: the treatment of this disease is controversial, in this case we observed without any intervention because the patient was asymptomatic, had a good visual acuity without evidence of progression and also the location in the posterior pole could complicate any surgery.
