Abstract
A delailed study of the Upper Albian- Cenomanian stratigraphic record of the Iberian Ranges has been conducted. It allow us to perform some very accurate correlations across different vertical pro files considering the seismic stratigraphy. Lastly has allowed to build with these materials a stratigraphic structure such as the ones known in the actual platforms and continental margins. These results have Iead us to reconsider the current stratigraphic Units, in their typology as well as the exact already-defined units. Due to it, it may be suggested the use of Iithostratigraphic units: very Iarge and general Formations, with more detailed Members, of regional value; and cyclostratigraphic units, divided in different ranks. Also, a terminology may be proposed for the new units which are related with the cyclostratigraphic ones, to continue the use of the traditional chronostratigraphic and geochronologic units, and the review of the concept of biostratigraphic units which has usually been used in these kind of materials.
