Abstract
The major role of human impact in determining the direction of vegetation change over much of the post-glacial has long been recognised. Work analyses, from palaeoenvironmental point of view, the vegetation changes since 1300±30 BP, Macizo of Peñalara, Guadarrama range, Spain. Palynological analysis from peat bog have been used to reconstruct environmental changes in the area. The landscape dominated by herbaceous taxa, constituted mainly Poaceae and Plantago lanceolada. Shrubs such as Cytisus type, Juniperus type, Erica arborea type and Rosaceae has important role in the vegetation. Woodlands with Pinus sylvestirs, P. pinaster and Quercus, Alnus, Betula, Castanea and Salix are also noticeable in the sequence. The influence may be attributable to forest clearance and grazzing pressures.
