Abstract

The aim of this Work is the simplification and automation of the previous stages of sample preparation for the determination of different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in environmental and food samples, the target is to eliminate the interferences that could affect in a negative way the solid phase extraction, chromatographic separation and detection through mass-spectrometry stages. This step has been carried out using suitable solvents and adapting the appropriate extraction techniques to isolate the target compounds while reducing the matrix interference effect. Liquid-liquid extraction, ultrasound assisted extraction, centrifugation and filtration are some of the applied techniques in this Work. Several test had been carried out over water and food samples as cereals, drinks, meat, fish and edible oils, certifying the method performance and the presence of these contaminants in the samples.
