Resumen

The late presentation (LP) of HIV infection is a relevant problem in our environment that has dire consequences for the individual and the community. It is important to know the risk factors and characteristics that are related to the most vulnerable population of presenting a late diagnosis, to be able to design targeted and effective strategies that improve early diagnosis. OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of LP, presentation with advanced disease (PAD) and presentation in the AIDS stage in patients with HIV infection at Hospital 12 de Octubre and analyze related risk factors. To study the clinical consequences derived from LP, PAD and presentation in the AIDS stage, in the form of the appearance of AIDS defining diseases (ADD), non-AIDS defining diseases (NADD) and mortality.
