Habitar los hospitalesel bienestar más allá del confort: nuevas tendencias en arquitectura sanitaria

Abstract

The requirements of society about healthcare facilities are increasing. In parallel, the exis-ting hospitals must be adapted to the new healthcare concepts. From the perspective of the project methodologies, transdisciplinary teams are leading these changes, while the new usercentered methodologies are being applied. Health-wise, innovations are taking into account the increasing complexity of the buildings and their environments and evol-ving towards computerisation and outsourcing of some services. Such trends imply the need for more outpatient ward areas, among other consequences. From the point of view of the patients’ welfare, new concepts are arising as «Feel at Home», «TeleHealth» or «Green Hospitals», and introducing some innovative design strategies as nature inside the building or active gardens and orchards. These changes of paradigm are changing the environmental and welfare conditions for users, and are the subject of our research.
