Resumo
From the first decades of the twentieth century, functionalism promoted new formulas of habitat for the less favored social classes, through the research of prototypes in series associated with the industrialization of construction, but, in parallel, this experimentation would be conducted towards the materialization of singular models of dwellings for an intellectual and well-off elite. The houses designed for some art collectors allowed architects to update the ancient topic of the "palace for art", leading a reflection on an harmonic convergence between living, art, architecture and domestic space. Architects and clients sought to become paradigms of the zeitgeist of a modern domestic interior, while reflecting their prestige and identity as a cultural elite. They showed, in short, the achievement of the avant-garde dream of integration of arts and dissolution of art in everyday life.
