Resum

One of the most important changes experienced by the Spanish labour market was the integration of women in employment during the last fifteen years. More than fifty percent of new total employment has been occupied by women; nevertheless, there are still many differences when their situation in the labour market is compared with men¿s. Male and female participation rates have converged somehow and the differences have been reduce in more than twenty percentage points, as well as unemployment and employment rates have also brought near. However, women inequality in the Spanish labour market arises when personal and labour characteristics (level of studies, age, familiar situation, activity sector, type of occupation, contracts, working time and salaries) are analysed and the challenges to face are many. The objective of this paper is to show these differences and to point out the necessity to keep on working in equality plans.
