Abstract

Nowadays, there are ice caps and glaciers in Iceland like Vatnajökull, the biggest continental ice cap of Europe. Nevertheles, in the past all the surface of this island was covered by the ice. The evolution of the glaciers, their current situation, their different kinds of interest, the present problems and some of the works for the study, control, prediction and prevention of geological risks are showed in this work.
