Résumé

Water supply and the solution of the sanitation of a certain village need a preliminary study of the geological and hydrogeological conditions of the area. A workshop to deal and to understand the these subjects is proposed. The workshop is structured to be coped through several teams of students, in a separate way ; each one of them playing the role of a group of technicians that has the task of the relocation of a refugee camp in a certain region of Africa. They have a package of existing information, composed by hydrogeological map, water points inventory, boreholes with the description of the drilled rocks and geophysic. This information and the derived discussion will lead the students to get a solution for the location of the proper source of water for the refugees, and the correct position for both the latrines and the landfill site. All of these issues have to be well thought in order to cover the basic needs of fresh water provision in sanitary conditions. The described activity was successfully undertaken during a summer course on the topic of water and sanitation in emergencies and development projects, with students of very different geological background.
