Cálculo de rutas óptimas para el transporte de residuos tóxicos y peligrosos

This work uses a PC Arc/Info SIG to compute several transport routes for toxic and dangerous waste through an important industrial region of Madrid: the Henares Corridor. The aim is to compute least cost and least risk routes (a) to compare the results with the routes declared by the waste carriers and (b) to test whether both kinds of routes show significant differences. Corroboration of the latter hypothesis leads us to an attempt to obtain compromise routes that minimize economical cost as well as population risks. In some cases this was not possible due to the spatial characteristics of the highway system.
