Résumé

This paper discusses the current state of Geology in several environments. Geological contents taught in the compulsory Education and High School are first considered. After this, an analysis of the number of geologists generated by the Spanish universities and the geologists’ demand of the Spanish market are considered. The study reveals that Geology, when compared to other sciences, is undervalued by some administrations in pre-university educational levels. With this aim in mind, it is first explained what could be understood as “Social Influence of Geology” and how it may be assessed. Afterwards some hypotheses to change the current situation are proposed and should be validated and, finally, recommendations are provided on the basis of these assumptions.
