Resumo

Comparative analysis of some ballads and songs from the Hispanic tradition (including Portuguese and Sephardic traditions from northern Morocco as well as from the Eastern Mediterranean) based on the topic of the lover who knocks on the womans door (paraklausithyron), usually under cold and rain. Their biblical, classical and modern European parallels (both oral and written) are studied, and pieces from France, Germany and Hungary are compared to an Indian traditional song, known as the pakharu of Sumba. Also in this work the concepts of topic, type and motive are explored.
