Recognition is required for cell and humoral components of the immune system to initiate an effector phase. Understanding the clonotypic receptors of T Iymphocytes and B cells (TCR and BCR, respectively) has occupied much of the efforts of researchers. In recent years, however, special attention has been focused on the cell and molecular components of recognition in the innate immune system, revolutionising the role of the innate immune system at the level of recognition and its close relationship with the adaptive immune system. In this study, we review the various elements in which inflammation develops: inducer, sensory, mediator, translation, effector and regulatory elements. We analyse these elements in various cell systems such as monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, mast cells, neutrophils and T and B cells, as well as molecular elements such as the complement.
