Abstract
Secondary hematological malignancies represent an infrequent but severe complication of cancer treatment. Diagnosis is based on clinical suspicion, morphological alterations and cytogenetic studies. Prognosis is uniformly dismal, and nowadays the only urative therapy is allogenic transplantation of bone marrow, with recovery rates between 25 and 30% within 5 years. We describe the case report of a patient with a history of antecedent carcinoma of the uterin cervix and breast carcinoma in complete response who has developed a myelodisplastics yndrome three years after her diagnostic. The interest on the study of myelodisplastic syndromes is based not only on the increase of their incidence, but also on the difficulty of their treatment and short-term bad prognosis.
