Resumo
La patología del pericardio muestra múltiples etiologías, existen gran número de enfermedades sistémicas que afectan al mismo. Se pueden clasificar en tres grandes grupos: enfermedades autoinmunes, enfermedades neoplásicas y enfermedades metabólicas. En las enfermedades metabólicas se debe distinguir la secundaria a la insuficiencia renal y las enfermedades endocrinas. La insuficiencia renal es una causa frecuente de patología pericárdica, incluso en los pacientes con diálisis. Entre las enfermedades endocrinas, el mixedema es la causa más frecuente. Las enfermedades autoinmunes representan un grupo muy importante a tener en cuenta en el diagnóstico de estas patologías. Por último, los procesos neoplásicos, sobre todo el cáncer de pulmón y de mama, representan las causas más frecuentes.
