Résumé
The geological mapping of the province of Guadalajara begins in the second half of the XIX century. Earlier maps were done under the cover of the different mapping programs done by the Commission for the Geological Map of Spain and followed by IGME. The history of the geological mapping in Guadalajara, like the rest of the country, can be divided in several stages: the first one goes from the second half of the XIX century until the International Geological Congress of 1926 in Madrid; the second one goes from 1926 until 1970; the third one is the MAGNA stage; and the final one goes from the beginning of the XXI century until nowadays. Each of these stages is characterized by the development of mapping plan by IGME. In addition, it should be acknowledged the cartographical contribution by the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the UCM and by foreign geologists, mostly germans, for their contribution in providing the original cartography of their researches by the province. Currently of Guadalajara has an extensive collection of geothematic and geological maps. These maps range from the initial provincial maps to the systematic regional maps done during the XX century at 1:50.000 and 1:200.000 scale with the topographic base provided by the IGN. The present and final stage is characterized by the development computer maps linked to powerful databases which allow the user to obtain customized geological maps.
