Abstract

This article analyzes how fluctuations in the economy are affecting labor market reform and, in particular, the abandonment of regular procedures for the regulation of workers' rights. In recent years, the Community authorities have been asking the Member States of the Union to implement structural changes. The opportunity and appropriateness of adjustments in the labor markets are in a constant state of debate and it is a novel practice that questions the very process of legal harmonization of European labor laws.
