Abstract

In many Amerindian cultures it is believed that when someone walks alone through the countryside, away from the villages, may encounter evil deities. These deities can cause that person to be stupefied, dumb, crazy or sick. In some cases, the person may die if not treated in accordance with the practices of traditional medicine. In this article I present and compare informations recorded in Bolivia, Peru and Brazil.
