Resum

There are some processes which may affect specific intra-corporeal territories and need a direct monitoring yet no allowed. Photoplethysmography, an optical technique widely used in the medical practice for peripheral monitoring of the cardiac frequency, could be applied in these cases. Here, we expose the initial results obtained by reflectance photoplethysmography in pig intra-abdominal organs along surgical interventions, using a sensor based on four LEDs with emissions around 735 nm, 750 nm, 810 nm, and 940 nm. The processing of the signals recorded in intra-abdominal wall, liver and intestine has shown the affordability to perform this technique for intra-abdominal perfusion evaluation.
