Resum

Soliton transmission in optical fibers is strongly affected in the presence of random variations of chromatic dispersion. This paper presents two original methods for chromatic dispersion mapping in single-mode optical fibers. The first one allows to perform highly accurate mapping of zero-dispersion wavelength variations. The second one allows mapping of arbitrary values of chromatic dispersion as well as detection of strain and dopant concentration variations along the fiber.
