Abstract

Service learning is an educational methodology that combines the learning process and the community services. This proposal develops meaningful learning, self-directed and collaborative learning in the context of social action. Also, it allows the participants to be anactive part in their own learning process while there are working on real environments. This article describes the steps to follow for the design and execution of a service learning project. Finally, the teaching experience of the Department of Medicine of the University of Alcalá using this technique is presented.
