Resumen
The diagnosis of nephroangiosclerosis although frequent, rarely is a diagnosis of certainty. So, its diagnosis is achieved by suspicion data. In the absence of another pathology justifying renal failure, nephroangiosclerosis appears in long lasting hypertensive patients and with organic impairment, for example, hypertensive retinopathy or left ventricular hypertrophy. Patients, usually, show cardiovascular high risk, either by the presence of risk factors or by having previously suffered from cardiovascular events. Laboratory test shows kidney function impairment progressing slowly, with minimal proteinuria and without hematuria. In the absence of these features, another cause of renal failure has to be suspected and the performance of diagnostic kidney biopsy has to be assessed.
