Résumé

With the exception of solidarity and universality, which are the basis of the right to social security, there is no doctrinal agreement on the principles that underlie the various state systems. The debate on this point is logical, given the important differences between them and given the evolutionary nature of the law on which they are based. This article, whose fundamental basis is Spanish law, is specifically set in four: the aforementioned solidarity and universality, and those of equality and unity. They examine their origin, meaning and effects. As far as possible, these principles are projected on International Social Security Law, some of whose sources are quoted in this paper.
