Resum

Listening comprehension is an active process in which the listener decodes the sounds uttered by the speaker, grammatically divides the utterance into words or phrases, and relates what he has understood with what he already knows, with the ultimate goal of understanding what the speaker meant. In interactive situations, additionally, the listener must respond verbally or physically in an appropriate manner. The knowledge of the processes involved in listening comprehension which are being detailed in this article are vital for the effective development of listening comprehension in the classroom of Spanish as a foreign language.
