Abstract
Military engineers, as the farerunners af civil engineers, perfarmed an innavative scientific and technalagical activity based an study and research, which shauld be taken inta accaunt when evaluating the evalutian af the professian. The Engineer Academy in the city af Guadalajara was an educatianal centre renawned throughaut Europe, equipped with facilities, such as Material Warkshaps and the installatians necessary far military aerostatian and the early development af aviatian (canstructian af engines). This all came abaut as a result af "technalagical development" and sawed the seeds faran attempt at industrial take-off.
