Abstract

Since the state of alarm was decreed in Spain on March 14, 2020, and measures of social confinement and distance were imposed to prevent and control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, various plans have been adopted in the university sphere to provide continuity to the service of higher education -which our constitutional text entrusts to the universities- without the need to comply with classroom presence. This transition from a traditional presential learning process to a process developed in an online environment has involved not only the use of electronic and/or computer tools and devices, but also virtual platforms. It has become evident the need to observe the rules regarding the use of personal data, such as images of teachers and students associated with the aforementioned learning process. In this article we intend to analyze the needs that arise in this new environment regarding the use of personal information, while offering a series of recommendations to ensure its safe use in a virtual learning environment.
