Abstract

On April 21, 2020, with the aim of contributing to curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, in the belief that personal data was the necessary tool but that its use should be subject to strict safeguards, the European Data Protection Committee (EDC) adopted its Guidelines 04/2020. The Committee thus provided guidance on how to use location data and on how to desing and use contact tracing tools in the context of COVID-19. With this article we give an account of these Guidelines and their contents.
