Abstract
Reuse of reclaimed wastewater is achieved since several decades in Spain but it represents no more than 5% of the total wastewater collected. In some cases, like in the Canary Islands, reclaimed wastewater has attained up to 20% of the consumed water. In this paper four examples of wastewater reuse are presented. The case studies correspond to different hydrological environments in Canary Islands, Andalusia and Catalonia, where reclaimed wastewater is reused for irrigation of golf courses, green filters, deep and shallow aquifer recharge. The case studies presented here have been developed in the framework of the CONSOLIDER-TRAGUA Project. The aim of the project is approach in an integrated way the aspects involved in the reuse of reclaimed wastewater coming from urban wastewater treatment plants.
