Abstract

In 2000 the Grup de Recerca del Quaternari started ongoing research project aimed at obtaining new archaeological and paleontological Pleistocene sites in the Garraf massif system (Catalan Coastal Range). The main goal is the reconstruction of the palaeoenvironmental picture in the catalan coast. The results of the archaeological works carried out in a diferents archaeological sites, (Cova del Rinoceront, Cova del Coll Verdaguer, Terrasses de la riera dels Canyars, Cova del Gegant,.) are able to construct a regional Pleistocene sequence between the Middle to Upper Pleistocene in the west mediterranian basin focused on the human occupation and their relationship with carnivores. This study shows previously published results of this research project in order to spread this information to the V Research Journeys (Madrid) from the Archeology & Prehistory Department of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.
