Abstract

Industrial restructuring in Colombia has its origin as a policy initiative, seeking to modernize and prepare its operations, due to the entry of competitors attracted by the change in the economic model. The authors attempt to explain the major changes and transformations arising in the process of industrial restructuring of the country, particularly the case of Acerías Paz del Río (steelworks), by implementing a hermeneutical method and technique of document analysis. As a result of the review, it can be established that the conversion processes are related to forms of organizational management and re-arrangement of the capital structure of the company. For the company Acerías the conversion process would be an important leverage for its survival, despite the difficulties faced by the company management.
