Abstract

Applying a non experimental transectional descriptive methodology, the sector which produces and sells cosmetics located in Bogotá, Colombia, for the second semester of 2004 was described. The model used included not only the design, the manufacture and the challenge of an instrument for capturing the information, but also the definition of the population that would shape into the project, with a size after confirming the belonging to the study, that deserved to continue it by means of the technique of census.  The survey was answered by mean of interview to the technician with the highest responsibility or by default with the manager or his representative. Besides achieving an approaching toward the cosmetic sector, the analysis of the obtained results, allowed us to conclude about the characteristics that describe its current state, consolidating a data base for the population of cosmetic products in Bogotá, and the information for further contacts. It was found that the studied population has not exceed 50 years since it was created , its capital is mainly national, PYME, low aware of professional joining together and local clients. Just the half of the members of the population are producers with problems in their processes for transformation of materials.
