La aportación científica al patrimonio paleontológico deJuan Vilanova durante sus viajes por Europa

Abstract

One of the important features of Juan Vilanova, that differentiate from other Spanish scientists of his time, was his motivation and interest for knowing the innovations that were happening in the scientific European circles. For it, he would apply the criteria in accordance with the aim of selecting of the diverse geological and paleontological samples, which gathered during his travels with intent, in some cases, to exchange finally providing the Real Gabinete de Historia Natural of a collection of samples as complete as possible. In this way, he will also contribute to research and conservation of important heritage. His methodical work reflected in the various publications that he realized years later to his participation in the congresses and geological excursions. His proven efficiency allows him to open new international relations that will facilitate the obtaining of an important collection, of which nowadays a review is carried out with regard to the paleontological material.
