Abstract

The skin is the organ through which we directly interact with our surroundings. However, this direct interaction with the environment can generate a wide range of skin disorders. There is a great variety of elements in our surroundings with the capability to induce skin lesions. Among the physical factors that can induce dermatosis, the most common and important in daily clinical practice are trauma, cold, heat, and sunlight. The main diagnostic tool is to take a good medical history followed by an adequate clinical examination. Treatment will vary depending on the particularities of each entity, but the cornerstone is stopping the inducing stimulus.
