Resumo

This paper analyzes transversally on current measures to protect youth employment. These measures have been designed from the European Union and have subsequently been developed in the Spanish labor market. In particular, the need to stimulate on-the-job training through learning through work is taken into account, as well as the need to intensify the accompanying measures in the labor market. These measures to protect youth employment are currently necessary, given the pernicious effects of the current economic crisis linked to the pandemic. This study highlights the need to continue maintaining, and even increasing, the measures to promote youth employment. It is, therefore, a matter of developing policies to promote youth employment on an interventionist basis and with a view to correcting the high rates of youth unemployment. It even advocates the development of new preventive measures, which prevent the abandonment of training by young people. In this sense, it highlights the need to promote new professional opportunities for young people in the labor market.
