Abstract
The present study attempts to shed light on the construction and perpetuation of the sexual genre stereotype linked to physical education and sports in Mozambique. The design of the study obeys a methodological phenomenology. The participants were women related to different educational areas as well as women associated with sports media and that could contribute information about the social problems of the genre stereotypes in Mozambique. The results highlight that the genre stereotypes manifest in physicaleducation and in sports, from prohibiting the use of short trousers in class, inequality in income in the sports teams, to the visual impairment of women's sport in communication media. The study shows the continuation to perpetuate patriarchal stereotypes in physical education and sports. The proposed changes should be deeper than isolated actions and that concern social structures that intervene the preconceived ideology of women.
