Abstract

This paper aims to focus attention on the importance of industrial heritage in urban regeneration as a reactivating element of intermediate cities in Chile. By means of applying of new uses for industrial goods is possible to reactivate the urban fabric in which they are inserted, ensuring the recovery of its historical memory, even if the architecture is no longer possible. It will deepen their possible re-use, social awareness as a fundamental tool for preservation, and reutilization, without neglecting the aesthetic function, thus achieving recover the landscape in which they are inserted. So, you get to perform a comprehensive reading of the relations generated between the various industrial elements, which reconverted the routes and points of gaze of these landscapes and that they give new uses and appropriated and consistent functions with their physical and social context nowadays. It will be considered, in order to improve the urban fabric, complex formulas of combined uses as cultural, educational, patrimonial and urban to restore an overall balance in our cities.
