Zusammenfassung

The teaching of competencies in non-technological de- gree and master studies or even in continuing educa- tion courses has been a constant in the work of many professors in the area of computer science. Usually these skills focus on the so-called basic digital skills. The integration of ICT and computer science subjects in secondary education seemed to suggest that new stu- dents (as well as society in general) could have an ap- propriate level of basic applications management. However, a stagnation and, even, a decrease in that level is being detected. This in-depth work in this area presenting abundant data obtained from experiences in evaluating competencies with the ECDL standard in Europe, as well as analyzing some data of interest re- garding the performance of different population groups according to their age and sex in Spain and It- aly. We compare this perception with the results of a survey to students of a transversal course on digital skills. The results obtained and the analysis of the ex- isting competence frameworks in Europe allow to re- flect on the most appropriate actions in this area for their application in non-technological degrees and masters and continuing education courses.
