Abstract

Visceral leishmaniasis is the most severe form of presentation of Leishmania infection. It is a multisystemic disease that often affects immunosuppressed patients. We present a case of a 72-year-old woman in chronic immunosuppressive therapy with steroids and cyclosporine who debuts with weight loss, asthenia, atypical pneumonia, splenomegaly, and polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia with the diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis and amastigotes of Leishmania in the bone marrow
