Resumo

The management of cultural heritage by the administration requires the organization of pre-existing information, usually dispersed and in many cases unavailable. The aim of Oviedo Redondo Geo-Archaeological Update Project (2007-11) was the synthesis of multidisciplinary information on 60 sites in the Historical Centre of Oviedo. The work methodology desig- ned included: 1) inventory of pre-existing information; 2) planimetric and infographic analyses (29 planimetries and 16 infographics); 3) review and inventory of archaeological materials conserved in the Archaeological Museum of Oviedo; 4) petrographic and diffractometric analyses of 45 samples of stone materials and mortars; 5) palynological analyses of 17 archaeological soil samples; and 6) integration and management of information in a database managed by a computer appli- cation based on a GIS. The project has achieved the transfer of scientific and applied knowledge to the Administration of the Principality of Asturias, providing an effective tool to optimize the management of geological and archaeological information in Oviedo Redondo.
