Resumen

During the last decades, wage growth has been conditioned by various factors: technological changes and the increase in monopoly power that have reduced the weight of wages in national income, institutional changes produced by labor reforms that have modified the fixing mechanism of wages and the adjustment to the Great Recession of 2008-2014 and, later, to the crisis of COVID-19. All these changes occurred in a context of low or no inflation, even deflation in some years. This article analyzes how the change in the macroeconomic context towards one of high and persistent inflation can influence the determination of nominal and real wages and their dependence on structural and institutional factors.
